A work session was held at 6:30 PM to discuss items on the meeting agenda.
The Planning Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in the Municipal Building at 253 Municipal Dr. and via Zoom as a virtual meeting. A public notice was published in the Daily Local News on December 27, 2022.
The agenda was posted on the Township website and at the Township building on February 15, 2023.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman, John Adam Thomas.

Roll Call – In attendance were John Adam Thomas, John Caporale, Jacob Bashioum, Michael Irwin, William Schew and Jim Benko. Ken Simon was not present.
Township Staff and Consultants in attendance were Kristen Denne, Raymond Stackhouse, Director of Building and Life Safety; Board of Commissioners’ Liaison to the Planning Commission Lorraine Tindaro; Board of Commissioners’ Alternate Liaison to the Planning Commission Mark Evans; and Elizabeth Nagy, Planning Commission Secretary.
Approval of January 17, 2023 meeting Minutes – Being no questions or discussion Mr. Thomas entertained a motion for approval as submitted, moved by William Schew and seconded by Jim Benko. With no objections the motion carries 5-0 with William Schew abstaining.
Agenda items:
LERTA- Commissioner Evans and Commissioner Young gave a presentation on the LERTA program which started January 1, 2023. The program provides a reduction of the school tax for commercial businesses located in selected locations for 5 years. The first year will assess at the parcel rate then decrease 25% each year for the following 4 years. This is to encourage business to build and make renovations in the desired areas.
Caln Clean Up Day- The planning commission discussed Caln Clean Up Day and will cleaning the roadways from Caln Meetinghouse Rd to Beaver Creek Tavern. They will meet on March 25th at 8:00am at the Meetinghouse on Caln Meetinghouse Rd.
Zoning Ordinance-Raymond Stackhouse gave an overview of proposal to amend zoning ordinance addressing carwashes and drive-thru’s in order to give a definition and use requirements for a commercial car wash uses. Mr. Thomas entertained a motion for approval to accept the ordinance as written, moved by Jim Benko and seconded by William Schew. With no objections the motion carries 6-0.
Rescheduling May meeting-Due to voting the May meeting will need to be rescheduled. Mr. Thomas entertained a motion for approval to move May meeting to May 23, 2023, moved by Jim Benko and seconded by Williams Schew. With no objections the motion carries 6-0.
