HISTORICAL COMMISSIONPROTECT-PRESERVE-CELEBRATE
Voted 2023 Municipality of the year by Chester County Historical Preservation Network The Historical Commission serves in an advisory capacity for the establishment and implementation of Caln’s historic preservation plan, to review and advise on proposed activities affecting historic resources and to provide information on historic resources to the citizens of the township. They also provide tours of Caln's Hexagonal School House on the first Sunday of each month, May through October from 1pm to 3pm, and collaborate with Parks & Rec on events at historic Spackman-Davis Farm. The Historical Commission consists of 9-15 members who serve five-year terms and are appointed by the Board of Commissioners. Join our team! Historical Commission Updates:The Caln Township Historical Commission received the 2023 CCHPN Municipality Award for their work toward restoring the Spackman Farm to grandeur and bringing it into the public eye. This committed group of volunteers continues to preserve and promote the many historical gems in Caln Township. They were recently host to one of the coveted CCPC/CCHPN Historic Town Tours and Village Walks at Spackman-Davis Farm, which set a post-Covid county attendance record. With a new Barn roof promising another 100 years, they are now working with the BOC to replace the farmhouse roof. In the meantime, the land continues to be farmed, and all proceeds from the farmer’s rent goes toward farm improvements needed to keep the properties from falling into further disrepair.
