Milling 9/12-9/13 with paving 9/16-9/18
UPDATE 7/16/2024 - Drilling work has been completed at this time and it should be safe to resume normal stream access. Caln Township is currently recommending residents (and pets) avoid accessing portions of Beaver Creek in Lloyd Park due to ongoing construction activity near the Lloyd Avenue bridge. This construction is related to the Aqua Infrastructure project and involves directional drilling under Beaver Creek. While there is no immediate environmental or ecological threat, directional drilling in regions of similar geology have previously resulted in waterway impacts. If a potential spill is identified, residents are encouraged to contact the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection at 1-800-541-2050, 24-hours a day. Check back here for updates |
UPDATE: PHASE II IR Plan for Beaver Creek Crossing - Scheduled to begin May 28, 2024
January 22, 2024
Dear Customer/Resident
I am writing to provide you with details on Aqua Pennsylvania’s upcoming construction work that is scheduled in your neighborhood or place of business. Aqua understands some of you are a customer of Downingtown Municipal Water Authority or Pennsylvania American Water Company and we want to let you know your water service will not be affected in any way. Our water main project is designed to improve water quality to Aqua customers that are adjacent to your neighborhood. The week of February 5, 2024, Aqua Pennsylvania will begin installation of 3,300 feet of new 16-inch ductile iron water main on the following roads in Caln Township and Downingtown Borough, Chester County.
- Lloyd Avenue (Poorhouse) between Deer Drive and a point 300 feet west of Stonebridge Lane
The $1,930,000 project is part of our continuing infrastructure improvement program that replaced more than 11 miles of aging main in Chester County in 2023 to improve service reliability for customers. The new water main will reduce the potential for main breaks, discolored water and improve water flow in the area.
Construction will generally take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Lloyd Avenue and between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Lancaster Avenue. Access will be provided for emergency, mail and trash service. Residents will have access to their properties, but at times will need to enter from different directions due to changing work zones. Following installation, the new main will be flushed, chlorinated and tested for water quality before being placed into service. It is important to note the trench will be covered with temporary blacktop at the end of each workday. Permanent restoration will take place in the spring of 2024.
Aqua will have an inspector on the job each day to answer your questions or you may also call us with any questions regarding the project at 610.430.0747.
Sincerely,
Jim Rosser
