In recent weeks, Caln Township unveiled its first two honorary street signs dedicated to Thelma B. Vaughn and Bishop George L. Eggleston. Both signs are located in the Carver Court neighborhood and commemorate community leaders who resided there. Family members gathered with township staff and Commissioners to unveil the new signs.
In late 2023, the Township Board of Commissioners approved a new Honorary Street Sign Designation policy. The policy allows citizens and groups the opportunity to honor individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the community, subject to approval by the Board of Commissioners. These memorials celebrate citizens without imposing substantial burdens associated with modification to the Official Street Map of the Township. These honorary street names are meant to commemorate the honoree and do not replace the official street name or require re-addressing of the street.
