- Call to Order
- Roll Call – Brett Klukan, Helen Eckel-Wiener, Anne Duzan, Jane Kennedy, Liz Malone, Isabel Clark and Abbey Swan. Guest: Tom Parr
- Public Comment
- Guest – Mark Evans (Spackman Farm event)
- Mark came to discuss with the group hosting an event to highlight our plans and work on the Spackman Farm property. After some discussion of conflicts with our holiday events, November was agreed upon as a good time to host such an event. Mark will be back in touch with more specifics after discussing it with the Historical Commission. We also discussed future ideas for art events (plein air) or a hayride. Mark, Abbey, Tom and Chief Elias will plan a trip to the farmhouse to discuss security.
- August 1, 2022 Minutes were approved
- Old business
- Recap August 5 (Chico’s Vibe + fireworks)
- The rain held off until the very end of the event and everyone was pleased with the turnout. The bubble station and cornhole were a hit. Adding additional music events with other types of music would be fun. We may consider adding more music next year instead of movies. In January we’ll discuss planning events for the year.
- Recap Community Day
- Everything went well – the location worked great so we plan to stick to that spot again.
- Planning – Meadow Seeding Event (October 22)
- Abbey will promote the event to attract volunteers. The final herbicide treatment was applied. We just need to till/power rake the week of the planting. Seed is on the way. We’ll use plant pots lined with plastic bags for the volunteers distributed. We’ll mix the flower seed, grass seeds, annual rye (cover crop), and kitty litter for spreading together. It will need to be rolled once the seed is spread. Abbey and Meaghan will be leading the workshop.
- Master Watershed Stewards has a team of 13 volunteers who are assigned to help with education for our meadow conversion project. They’ll be creating posters, brochures, workshops, and an online resource repository. Tom is creating a cool journaling bench for the meadow.
- Planning – Halloween Party (October 30)
- Shannon Cooper’s Dance Academy offered to run a trunk-or-treat for our event (plus face painting, games, and snacks). The group agreed that it would be a great addition. We could trunk or treat in the parking lot. We also decided to add a photo booth this year. Abbey will get costume prizes for each age group. We’ll also set up the scavenger hunt again.
- Initial Planning – Tree Lighting (December 3rd)
- The group agreed to stick with the usual plan for this year – Meistersingers, Rotary snacks, bon fire, Santa from the fire company, luminaries, and a Schoolhouse open house. We’ll do a food and toy drive at the event.
- Park bridge Update
- Public works is working on a replacement for the old Covered Bridge in the park. It’s almost ready to be installed – just awaiting a few final pieces.
- Recap August 5 (Chico’s Vibe + fireworks)
- New Business
- Municipal Park master plan
- Abbey suggested and the group agreed about seeking funds for a new master plan for Municipal Park. There is no master plan for the park. Jane will send Abbey some resources for adding inclusive playground equipment to the park.
- Beaver Creek Trail update
- We received a DCED grant for $50,000 for engineering segment 5 of the trail. The engineer will do as much work as we can for that amount. DCED encouraged us to reapply next your for more funds for the project.
