- Call to Order
- Roll Call – Present: Angela Cordisco, Chris Cordisco, Brett Klukan, Josh Young, Abbey Swan and guest Helen Eckel-Wiener
- Approved June 2021 minutes
- Old business
- Movie night recap – Brett and Tracey Laws came to help set up the screen. Tracey set up a table with police trinkets to hand out. Overall, went well. Feedback – don’t forget to keep the entrance parking space blocked throughout so that the Rita’s truck can get back out afterward. Turnout was about 50 people – average for these events. We set up the screen across the stream and Rita’s came to sell ice cream. The movie was Sing – well received.
- Summer Series events – Chico’s Vibe is next up, August 27th at 7:00. We’ll be having a double fireworks show because we cancelled last year. Abbey will submit a permit to Codes. September we’ll be showing Frozen II. It can be earlier in the day because the sun sets earlier. Debbie from Rita’s is planning to come to both events. Abbey will ask Midway Grill if they’d like to come to the Chico’s Vibe concert to sell food.
- 2021 Event dates – schedule Halloween/Christmas events.
- The Halloween party and parade will be scheduled for Saturday, October 30 with a rain date of October 31. Abbey will work to secure some judges and will look into hosting a scarecrow contest.
- The Tree Lighting event will be held on December 5th. Abbey will reach out to the fire company and the Meistersingers with the date.
- Riparian buffer/wildflower meadow/pollinator updates
- Not every tree we requested for the riparian buffer were available and we’re still waiting on a date. The buffer will be installed in Lloyd Park and trees are provided by Keystone 10 Million trees program.
- Wildflower meadow project – we applied for the Giant grant and are waiting for a response.
- Dawkins Park Play Equipment – the new playground equipment to replace the monkey bars and teeter totter has been ordered in dark green to match the swings.
- New Business
- 2022 Parks and Recreation Budget – in 2021 we budgeted to re-roof the pavilions and bathrooms in Municipal Park which will happen before the end of the year. We may be able to use ARPA funding for some of the bathroom updates. We discussed adding borders to the playground in Municipal Park, adding pickleball lines to the tennis courts and possibly updating the hockey rink in Municipal. We also discussed fencing a smaller section of the dog park in Lloyd. We would also love a skate park and splash pad!
- For events, we’ll ask for the same budget as 2019.
- Helen suggested to add an event where we invite kids to do a stream study in Valley Run. We would look for macroinvertebrates and other stream health indicators. This would be fun to do in the spring – maybe for Earth Day.
