Caln Township Open Records Policy
Caln Township shall afford any individual or business the opportunity to examine or copy public records as defined and governed by the Right to Know Law, 65 P.S. § 67.101, et seq. Every record of the Township is presumed to be public unless a record is (1) exempt under the Right to Know Law; (2) privileged; or (3) exempt from disclosure under State or Federal Law. The Township is not required to create a record that does not currently exist and all records shall be provided in the format maintained by the Township.
All requests for access to public records shall be submitted to the Township's Open Records Officer on either the Pennsylvania Uniform Right to Know Request Form or the official web form found at CalnTownship.org/Township-RTK-Form. The Township will respond to written requests which have been submitted by the web form, facsimile, email, regular mail and/or in person. All requests must be sufficiently specific to enable the Township to ascertain which records are being requested.
Records shall be available for public access only during the Township's normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A fee will be charged for copies of records in accordance with the fee structure as described on the website of the Office of Open Records.

PUBLIC RECORD NOTICE: All Right to Know Requests will be public records and subject to public access with limited exceptions. If you do not want to include personal contact information in a publicly accessible record, please provide alternate contact information.
Please Note: Retain a copy of this request for your files, it is a required document if you would need to file an appeal. We will email you a copy of your request and a confirmation that it has been received by the Open Records Officer.
What to expect when you file a request for Township records:
When Caln Township receives a request for records, a request tracking number is assigned and our Open Records Officer reviews the request and prepares a response. Generally speaking, a response will be issued within five business days of the date the request is received. If additional time is required to prepare the response, the ORO may invoke a thirty calendar day extension under the RTKL.
