Welcome
Nearly 75 years before the Declaration of Independence was conceived, settlers from Calne, England were declaring their own independence in the heart of what is today Chester County, Pennsylvania. Their settlement was "namesaked" Caln, one of the original settlements in Chester County. By 1868 five other townships, the Borough of Downingtown and the City of Coatesville were molded out of this area and today's township boundaries were established. In January 1953, Caln Township became a Township of the First Class. The Hexagonal Schoolhouse, a historic structure built in 1837 and located near the Municipal Building is the focus of the official township seal. Today, Caln Township is a first class location to live, work and play. This web site gives a brief introduction to our community.
