CALN TOWNSHIP, PA — Residents, business owners, commuters, and Lincoln Highway travelers are invited to attend a community open house on Monday, June 15, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Caln Township Building, 253 Municipal Drive, Thorndale, PA 19372, to help shape the future of the Lincoln Highway corridor.
Hosted by the Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC), Caln Township, and Toole Design, the event will present preliminary design concepts focused on improving safety, mobility, access, and the overall experience along the Lincoln Hwy./Business Route 30 corridor.
Community members will have the opportunity to review concepts, ask questions, and provide constructive feedback directly to the project team.
“Community engagement matters because the people who live, work, shop, and travel along Route 30 experience the corridor every single day,” said P. Timothy Phelps, Executive Director of TMACC. “Good planning starts by listening. We want residents to share honest and thoughtful ideas that can help shape a corridor that is safer, more connected, and more welcoming for everyone.”
The open house will include representatives from TMACC, Toole Design, Caln Township, and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC).
“Lincoln Highway is more than just a roadway. It is part of the identity of Caln Township,” said Don Vymazal, Township Manager for Caln Township. “Reimagining this corridor is about improving quality of life for residents, supporting local businesses, creating safer travel options, and building a stronger sense of community for future generations.”
The event is free and open to the public. Residents are encouraged to attend, learn more about the project, and help guide the future vision for one of Chester County’s most important corridors.

NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Zoning Hearing Board  of Caln Township (“Board”) will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., prevailing time, at the Caln Township Building, 253 Municipal Dr., Thorndale, PA 19372, to consider, and potentially act on Application of First Blackhorse, LLC, owner of the property located at 1401 & 1333 Blackhorse Road (TPNs 39-3-77 & 39-3-79), and situated within the Township’s R-2 Residential Zoning District (the “Property”).  The Board will consider and potentially act upon the Applicant’s request for an indefinite extension of time within which the Board must consider and/or act upon the Application, pursuant to the provisions set forth in the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, or in the alternative, accept no extension or an extension of a more definitive length. In alternate, the Board will proceed to consider and potentially act upon the Application. In the Application, the Applicant is seeking a validity variance pursuant to Sections 155-22 (R-2 Low to Medium Density Residential District) and 155-54 (Multifamily townhouse uses and developments) of the Caln Township Zoning Ordinance to allow the Property to be developed, by conditional use, as a multi-family townhouse development subject to Section 155-54, as set forth in the concept plan, and subject to the density requirement of 2.25 dwelling units per gross acre. 
If any person who wishes to attend the hearing has a disability and/or requires an auxiliary aid, service or other accommodation to observe or participate in the hearing, he/she should contact the Township Building at (610) 384-0600 to discuss how those needs may be accommodated at least 24 hours in advance of the hearing.  Copies of the application, plans and materials accompanying the application may be inspected at the Township Municipal Building by appointment only.

Art in the Park - Beaver Creek Sketching Class

Join Caln Township Parks & Recreation for a special Art in the Park session - geared for adults and older teens! 

The beauty of nature is all around us, and instructor Daniel Rodriguez will walk us through how to capture it through sketch! He will be teaching us how to sketch the world around us with different art materials (some from nature itself)! Our subject for this class will be Beaver Creek.

​Whether you are new to sketching or want to fine tune skills, this class is for you! This class is geared for adults and older teens (minors must be accompanied by an adult).
