The Historical Commission September 17, 2025 agenda was posted on the Township website and at the township building on September 16, 2025. Agendas were made available to the public at the meeting. The 2025 Historical Commission meeting schedule was published in the Daily Local News on December 18, 2024.

- PennDOT Signage Letter - TABLED
- Old Business:
- Schoolhouse Tours – Tom reported that 7 people attended the September schoolhouse tours, led by Donna and Chris Parr. Everyone will try to attend the October open house to end the season.
- Historic Preservation Ordinance (Action Item) – The Commission considered the previously-adopted Historic Preservation Ordinance with minor changes from the township solicitor.
- Commissioner Evans asked for a motion to approve the updated Historic Preservation Ordinance – Motion passed unanimously
- Historic Resource List Approval (Action Item) – The list was updated to include individual addresses in Carver Court and added clarity around a few of the resources. The proposed ordinance allows changes to the resource list as required.
- Commissioner Evans asked for a motion to approve the Historic Resource List as amended at tonight’s meeting – Motion passed unanimously
- SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS:
- MEMBERSHIP – No change
- EVENTS – No updates
- SPACKMAN FARM –
- The Commission plans to decorate the farm for the holidays on December 6th. They also discussed a small event at the Farm after the OCHS Open House Tours.
- Tom connected with a mason and arranged a meeting at the Farm to get quotes for repairing the stone walls and steps. He’ll also be looking at the stone walls of the house.
- Commissioner Evans invited the group to attend the Kings Highway Park Task Force on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
- MARKETING AND SOCIAL MEDIA –
- Abbey asked for volunteers to be interviewed for a promotional video. Donna offered to participate.
- Commissioner Evans updated the group on the new Historical Commission feature in the monthly newsletter. It’s been very well-received!
- HISTORICAL PRESERVATION – Addressed above
- CALN AT RISK –
- Tom reported that Main Line Health met with the Planning Commission, but no recommendation has been rendered yet.
- The Vickers’ house is continuing to be worked on by the owner.
- Patty reported that the Orangery and Hoopes Farm.
- Commissioner Evans proposed the idea of putting a history plaque about the Lloyd Farm up as part of the public space at the Main Line Health campus.
- OCHS LIASON REPORT –
- Patty asked for details about the December farm event to be included in the advertising for the OCHS House Tours. The Commission discussed logistics related to parking, volunteers, and timing.
- FINANCE UPDATE –
- Donna reported no change from last month and the remaining budget is $13, 048.13.
- The Finance subgroup is working on a budget request for 2026. Commissioner Evans detailed some of the potential plans for America 250 next year, and it’s impact on the commission’s budget.
- ADDITIONAL BUSINESS:
- Canopy Purchase (Action Item) – Abbey displayed the proposed canopy design for review. Commissioner Evans asked for a motion to approve the expenditure of $1,2050.96 for a branded canopy. Motion passed unanimously
- Resident Bill Lynch spoke to the Commission about the Ingleside connection to President Buchanan. He will continue to conduct research on the topic.
