- Old business
- Clean Up Weekend Recap – This year’s event went very well. We had 120 volunteers and about 200 bags of trash. Sunday had fewer sign ups and lighter attendance. Next year, we should discuss whether or not it’s worth it to have Sunday shifts. We were able to purchase small gloves from Hatts that worked for the kids. We discussed budgeting for nicer trash grabbers for next year. Most of the trash was better than last year so we seem to be making progress. We hid a few eggs with extra candy and people enjoyed finding them as part of the clean up. Midway Grill extended the life of the gift certificates, which was nice. Maybe next year we make the expiration even longer.
- Summer Series Update – Abbey is trying to get a turtle expert to attend. Caln Pizza will sponsor and provide low-cost pizza for the pizza party. The rain location will be at the golf course in their pavilion.
- Dog Park Garden – This is the final year of the Urine Tolerant Plant trial and we’re going to try planting the plugs outside, but near the dog park this year (instead of inside where they get dug up). Hibiscus is looking good from previous years, but everything else died. These are free plant plugs that we report back on to the nursery that provides them. Abbey and Anne will take a look and flag out a spot for Public Works to prepare.
- New Business
- Isabel is moving from Caln so will, sadly, be resigning. Anne was elected vice chair in her absence.
- Greenway Luncheon – The Brandywine Conservancy has invited us to their greenway luncheon to present on the projects we’re working on (parks, open space, trails etc.). Helen, Sam, and Anne would like to attend. Abbey will RSVP.
- Tom Parr provided an update about the Spackman-Davis Farm picnic and asked for volunteers to help out on June 29th. Volunteers will be doing parking, registration tables, set up, and breakdown, among other things. Commissioner Evans invited everyone to attend the next BoC meeting for a presentation about America 250 from Heather Reifert from Chesco 250.
